So I'm a slacker?

Okay, its been a while. I realize that I haven't posted for a long time, but the truth of the matter is, I haven't had much to post about. Whenever I have deep thoughts, I don't have time to write them down, and they are gone by the time I get to my computer. But oh well.

So, I finished the Warcraft campaigns. And I have to wonder why humans are always seen as either weak or corruptable, while elves are the uncorruptable strong ones. This must have started with Lord of the Rings, where the immortal elves are able to resist the ring and know its evil, while the world of men are mostly unable to do so.

I saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow a couple days ago, and I loved it. A lot of people complained that it had no plot, but that's the point. Its only supposed to have as much of a plot as it had. Its supposed to be a throwback to old movies, and is the only comic book movie lately that has actually been like a comic book. Plus the cinematography is awesome. I love the lighting and the shadows. Anyways, if you haven't seen it, you should.

Rachel has decided to finish her novel this month, and I can't decide if I want to push myself to write. I mean, its fun, but I never started so that I could finish, I just started to start. If that means anything. But perhaps I will. So be prepared for new polls to be coming out soon.

"You've Got Mail"

Okay, so I just finished watching the last half of You've Got Mail because it was on tv and I now have a tv next to my computer so I can multi-task. Anyways, all Tom Hank's character does in the entire second half of the movie is manipulate Meg Ryan's character, and the audience is supposed to think its nice and romantic and all that? I'm sorry, but if somebody manipulated me like that, I think I'd be a little angry.

And now I've found Mission Impossible (the first one) in order to take my mind off the romantic comedy that I just saw. In all honesty, though, You've Got Mail is one of the better romantic comedies out there, but that's not saying much. Anyways, today was my mom's brithday, so we got to go out to dinner at Applebee's. Since Robby wasn't home - nobody knew where he had gone - I had hoped that we could manage to leave Robby out of it, but my mom had to call him and tell him where we were. So we had a nice family dinner with all of us there.

Anyways, after we left, Robby decided it would be fun to take my dad's car without telling or asking anybody. Well, Billy and I got to go on a search to find the Expedition, and take it home without telling Robby. So we'll see if Robby calls the police and reports it stolen, or if he calls home and tells my parents what's happened.

And you might ask why I don't talk about something other than tv or my family, but really, there's not much besides that going on in my life right now. Except that I corrupted a group of third and fourth graders at church last night. Actually, I got to corrupt the entire group of K - 6th in the beginning, but then after games, I had a smaller group.

And now I'm watching I Love the 90's Part Duex. Year 1996. If you haven't watched this show, you must. So far they've talked about Steve Irwin, Romeo and Juliet, and now Ceaser haircuts. Apparently those are the haircuts where its just really short and your comb it forward?

So, I've compiled a list of the top five things to do when you're sitting at home completely bored.

5. Sleep - just ask Amanda, this is a good way to spend your time. Not that she's sleeping because she's bored, though.

4. Surf the internet for hours - always a favorite.

3. Watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer - two episodes on FX a day in order.

2. Learned stuff - reading, writing, and latin.

1. Warcraft - working on the undead campaign right now.

Bored, or maybe boring

If you wonder why this isn't being updated all that often, its because nothing is going on in my life right now. Its completely boring, which is why I'm completely bored. I now have a tv in my room. Granted, its really small, but its still in my room and right next to my computer. So now I don't even have to get out of my chair if I want to watch a show. Of course, there's only like three per week that I really want to watch, but still. When those come on, I won't have to leave my room.

I'm missing the snow, which isn't helped by the fact that Calvin and Hobbes lately has had snow comics, although they are entertaining. Here's one I found recently.



I wish I had grown up in the snow. Somehow I can imagine that I would have done some of the same things Calvin does. But alas, I got a late start on wintertime fun. Oh, and sorry the comic is so small. The bigger one was getting covered up by the menus on the right, and I haven't found all the tricks of this site yet.

Under construction

Since my other site is currently going through remodeling and isn't open to the public, I guess I'll have to start updating this one more often. The problem is that I haven't been doing anything interesting lately. Its been all waking up late and searching for something to do so I'm not bored out of my mind. I have found that after a while, HBO has nothing new on. But there are a lot of old prime time shows on during the day if you know where to look. Too bad most of those prime time shows are lame, so I've been spending a lot of time watching the SciFi channel. Apparently they decided to take another shot at this old series called Battlestar Galatica, which is pretty cool. They kept pretty much the same characters, but tweaked some a little bit, and made a new plot line, I think. Anyways, there was a mini-series that they made last year, and they've been repeating that a lot because the series starts up where the mini-series left off. Too bad it starts tonight when I have to work.

In other news, I'm thinking about going to Disneyland sometime soon, so if anybody wants to go with me, let me know soon.

Oh! For those of you who haven't heard the joyous news, we finally got rid of AOL at my house. Now, some might be wondering why that's joyous news. Well, AOL will only let one screenname per account be on at one time, which means that only one person in my family can be on the internet at the same time. Which meant lots of arguments about who had been on the most, and who gets to be on now. But we (meaning me because nobody else in my family could do it) finally called up Bright House and got Roadrunner.

Also, Rob helped me set up a wireless network. Well, he did all the work while I supplied the sugar in the form of peanut butter M&M's and. But that means that the family computer is now upstairs in my parents room, and my computer is very happily sitting in my room.

Anyways, I'm still figuring out how to use this site, so hopefully more stuff will be coming soon, in the way of pictures. Until then, uh, do some homework or something.

Now, I'm not going to say who said this or who agreed with it (you know who you are!), but I find it interesting. Thoughts? Comments? And no, I wasn't the one who said it.

Ad infinitum?

So, as I was driving a couple days ago, I had this random thought. Well, it wasn't too random because my mind is often occupied by somewhat philosophical musings when I drive. But anyways, I suddenly thought, "What is the world is an infinite regress?" In philosophy, you cn try to prove a though wrong by showing that it is an infinite regress (this is one of the big objections against the big bang theory). An infinite regress happens when you can find no founding cause for something. Its like an endless chain.

Anyways, I was thinking about quantum indeterminancies and other really small things (it seems that's what my semester was made of: quantum things), and thought to myself, what if the smallness just keeps going? Would it really matter? I mean, it almost seems that it has to keep going, for I sure have trouble imagining something so small that its not made up of parts. But then I thought, what if everything is an infinite regress. I mean, there's a theory out there in science that certain things don't really exist until you discover or observe them. So its like the act of observance makes them metaphysically real. So what if by looking for things we keep making new things. Or God keeps making new things for us to discover, or made them in the beginning of the world to be a regress.

But at the same time, could we ever prove an infinite regress which travels forward through time? Most arguments about them have to do with the past or foundational stuff, but we could never prove the infinite regress of matter or space, because who's to say that there is a next step after the current one? You have to investigate it to find out, and you can just keep on investigating.

Anyways, this was one of the things that occupied my mind as I drove. More musings to come, I hope.

Another one?

Yes, another place for me to post stuff. But I've decided that this is going to be more of my thoughts and things like that, not just what has been happening in my life lately. If you want to know what's going on in the Life of Becca, go to The Page of Randomness and check it out.

Now, onto the meaning of the title of this blog. In my Metaphysics class, we were talking about what makes an agent. We decided that you have to wear either really skimpy clothing if you're a woman or be a womanizer if you're a man. Oh wait, wrong type of agent. In philosophy of mind, what we mean by "agent" is basically a person, but more of a person with a will.

Anyways, I was thinking about this in terms of time, and what makes you the same person you were two minutes or two years ago, and I got a picture of a vetor going through space. Its the same thing throughout, but changes. So this will be my page to talk about the vector that is me. And hopefully I'll get some other vectors posting too.
